Lost in nature

Such an original building, and interior decorated with taste. A bit lost in the nature so it has the advantage to be super quiet, but don’t expect any shop nearby. I liked the shower with windows on the gardens. It’s lovely to eat in the garden, we were surrounded by flowering apple trees.

Beautiful surrounds - loved our stay

A fairytale getaway

The church sits amongst a mesmerising garden - the surrounds are vast and magical. The wood fire at night was warming and set us for a lovely night in. Stanley pub is only a 2 min drive the road (great food and local wine list), and Beechworth town only 10 mins away. A fairytale getaway!

Stayed at the lovely Blue Gum Church with some friends while attending Wonder Mountain festival in Beechworth. It was perfect - such a gorgeous place to retire to after lots of dancing. Very peaceful, fantastic garden/grounds, great for a small group.

We absolutely loved the location

I would describe the cottage as a rough diamond. Set amongst the trees and hearing the birds in the morning - it was so tranquil and beautiful. We loved the charm and rustic nature of the place, and the newly renovated bathroom with the sky light. So many lovely places around the property to sit and enjoy. The Stanley pub is a must and we did some local walks too which were great (don’t forget your hiking shoes like us!). In terms of the rough edges - we had a few issues on arrival that got resolved by the lovely host. The washing machine wasn’t clean and so we didn’t use it and improvements could be made . Some crisp white sheets/bedding would make such a big difference. Kitchen was nice but missing a few basic cooking essentials; e.g cooking oil and better than basic coffee making. For the price point (and noting we are a couple), it was expensive given the basic facilities when comparing to other places we’ve stayed. This place might be better suited to a family or several couples. With its beauty, we would still very much recommend!!

Amazing property with unique features a short drive from Beechworth. Spacious kitchen & living areas, comfortable bedrooms & small but stunning bathroom. We all enjoyed our 6 night stay here at Stanley amongst the fresh country air & natural bush setting.

Very comfortable beds

A tranquil rural hideawayPerfect for a relaxing break away from it all. We loved the rustic feel of the place and were very happy to spend Christmas here, with traditional carols playing to set the scene. Plenty of local berry picking and bush walks to keep us entertained. Very comfortable beds with crisp linen and fluffy towels really ticked all the boxes.

We really enjoyed our stay at the very special Blue Gum Church in Stanley. It was so peaceful, serene, spacious, clean and comfortable with a lovely ambience. Magical garden which even had a resident koala! It was a great base for us to explore the whole area. Many thanks, Jen - you were a great host and so helpful working around those lockdowns this year! We left Stanley feeling totally re-vitalised!
