About this listing

This charming 1850's Victorian house, nestled in the picturesque town of Beechworth. With its original features and breathtaking views overlooking the town, this house offers a unique and memorable experience for our guests.

Situated just up the hill from the iconic Newtown Stone Bridge, the location provides a convenient starting point for exploring the rich history and natural beauty of Beechworth. You'll find it an easy stroll into town, where you can immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere and discover the local attractions.

Megan & Ollie were fortunate to acquire it for their coffee house and design studio, known as The Beechworth Conservatory. Along with the shop, the building came with the original residence of the shopkeeper, which they have lovingly restored with a touch of TLC (tough love + care).

As you step inside, you'll be transported back in time, surrounded by the authentic Victorian architecture and period features. The careful restoration work has ensured that the building's charm and character have been preserved, creating a warm and inviting ambiance.

Megan & Ollie take great pleasure in sharing this tranquil space with their guests. Enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee in their cosy coffee house next door and find inspiration and relaxation in every corner as the unique setting invites you to unwind and rejuvenate.

Gorgeous place filled with history and charm. Rooms and beds were very comfortable and the area was lovely and peaceful. Our hosts were lovely and left us a delicious breakfast basket which was so thoughtful and unexpected.

Lovely place to stay

Being welcomed with complimentary coffee was a lovely way to start our two-night stay, as was unlocking the front door to be met with authentic old-world charm beautifully presented. Lovely bedrooms and comfortable beds (extra throw rugs/blankets for such cold nights to also snuggle up for reading/watching TV could add a more luxurious feel). Disappointingly weather was not on our side to experience Beechworth to its full, but we still enjoyed the short, easy walk to town, historic sites and terrific eateries. Enjoyed a delicious dinner beside an open fire at Tanswells Hotel and a fabulous brunch at Amandhi's. Gaol guided tour was a perfect sign-off. Back to our stay, the bathroom is downstairs to the bedrooms and very clean. The shower as noted is over the bath. Kitchen well-equipped but also downstairs from living space and poorly lit over the stove /cooking area.

Perfect!

From the initial booking, Megan was super friendly and made contact straight away and provided all necessary details. On the day of check-in, once again, advised us where we could collect key. We were greeted with a coffee offering, which was well received. The house is gorgeous and had a real historic vibe with additional modern touches. The kitchen and bathroom are on a lower level (more mentioning if you struggle with stairs). In the kitchen, a fresh loaf of sour dough bread was provided, and some local condiments (very tasty). kitchen had a heap of space. Both bedrooms had ample space, and the beds are very comfortable (do recommend ear plugs if sleeping in the front room). As a group of 4, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to rebook.
